Campus by the Sea, or as we like to say CBS is a Christian summer camp located on Catalina Island.  With this being our first year there, we are so excited for this opportunity and are confident that CBS will provide everything we need for a great summer camp experience: to build memories as a church community, focus on what matters most, and have fun as we grow in our discipleship to Jesus.

Camp on the beach at Catalina Island offers us a variety of new and fun recreation options that we are so excited to experience. Recreation options include: basketball, volleyball, ping-pong, gaga ball, hiking, campfires, kayaking, paddle boarding, snorkeling, water mat, swim float, fishing, swimming, and tube runs.

We have always aimed for our Junior High trips to be meaningful, memorable, affordable and conducive for building into community and our relationship with Jesus. While Hume Lake and Hume SoCal have served us in these ways the last few years we have prayerfully considered other options that would be a better fit for our Junior High group. After careful consideration, we decided to make the switch to Campus by the Sea because it is:

1. Affordable. The per day cost is comparable to most camps including Hume but with less nights and a lower transportation cost it will overall be significantly more affordable.
2. Unique and Memorable. Catalina is such a beautiful and unique place. Campus by the Sea is located in a private cove with a variety of activities and amenities only accessible to the camp. Snorkeling, tubing, fishing, swimming, hiking, pickleball, basketball, beach volleyball, kayaking, outdoor worship spaces and dining, etc. Additionally, there will only be a few other churches there during our week providing opportunity for our group to really build memories together.
3. Simple and Sustainable. We love youth camps. And yet, the facilities and schedules of most youth camps often leave staff and students feeling drained and exhausted early on in the trip. The fast pace can take away from the meaningful experiences we hope to share. The general pace, facility, and schedule of Campus by the Sea reflects a conducive environment for young people to learn, grow and have tons of meaningful fun.

Our High School group will continue to go to Hume Lake each year so every OVERFLOW student will have four years to enjoy the amazing experience once in High School.

As always, we will meet at Grace for orientation before getting on a charter bus through LuxBus America from the church to the San Pedro port. From there, Campus By The Sea privately charters a boat to get to camp (just north of Avalon). The boat will only have boat staff, Campus By The Sea Staff, and churches aboard. We will provide adequate resources for anyone who gets seasick.

One of the most frequent questions we get is, “Will my child be in a cabin with their friends?” Our answer:  Maybe! We do not take requests.  During the day, students are all together and are free to spend time with whomever they would like. The only time that students are separated in their cabins is for cabin time at the end of the night (including sleeping).

On trips, one of our biggest values is for OVERFLOW to grow in unity as a group. This is a unique opportunity for our students to grow deeper in friendship with those in their small groups as well as form new relationships with others outside of their small groups. Every year we see students bond with one another at camp and come home feeling even more connected at OVERFLOW!

Our church underwrites a portion of every camper cost and we are unable to offer this discount to those who are not already a part of OVERFLOW. Please be gracious to us as we do our best to accommodate as many students as we can for camp. We do have financial assistance available to anyone who needs it!

To make camp more affordable to those who need it we have two financial aid options: Payment Plans and Financial Assistance.

Our first option, Payment Plan, will allow you to finance the trip via monthly payment (up to 4 payments: March, April, May, June). If you’d like to finance the cost of your child’s trip, please fill out our Payment Plan Form and email back to Bre Gardner at [email protected]

Our second option, Financial Assistance, will allow you to receive assistance from the church for up to 50% of the trip cost. If you’d like to apply for Financial Assistance please fill out our application HERE.

Trips and Camps:

In the event that you cannot attend a trip and need to cancel, please keep in mind the

following…

• Upon registration, you are responsible for the entire trip cost
• Deposits are always non-refundable and non-transferable
• If the trip did not have an initial deposit, 20% of the trip cost will be considered the non-refundable deposit in the event that you cancel and your spot can be covered from waitlist
• Even if you cancel, final payment will be due 45 days before departure.
• The final payment is considered non-refundable and non-transferable. (See Exceptions)
• If there is no waiting list, there is no possibility of any type of refund.
• Cancellations must be made (and are only official) by submitting this Cancellation Form notifying OVERFLOW staff of your cancellation. (Please note: One form will need to be submitted per child if cancelling for multiple children)

Events:

• For events, which did not require a deposit, all payments are considered final and non-refundable and non-transferable. (See Exceptions)

Exceptions:

• Waitlist: If a student from the waitlist fills your cancelled spot, you will receive a refund of the entire trip cost except for the deposit. We can send you a refund check or credit the balance back to your account.
• Family Member: You may transfer your spot to another immediate family member only; who’s not already registered.
