Provide context for the Children of Grace to know, love and worship God, and be transformed by the power of His Spirit.
Pastor of Families
Director, Children of Grace
There is no greater privilege than to nurture the faith of a child. While God has ordained parents with the primary responsibility to make disciples of their children, our desire is to walk alongside you every step of your child’s faith journey.
Family dinners will be regular gatherings in a home of up to four families from our community. We desire for new relationships to form so we will assign families to each other. You have the option to select one other family whom you know well if it will make you more comfortable. We will follow-up with details and logistics in the near future, but for now we need some more information from you to move the process forward. Click the link below to sign-up for a night on the weekend of February 26th – 28th and we will be in touch soon.
Children’s at Home
As we navigate the lifestyle changes brought about by COVID-19, we will make a new lesson available to families and home gatherings each week. Check back each Friday.
Each Sunday the children will work through the following elements:
Bible story – Children will learn a Bible story each week and will be given the broad picture of creation, fall, redemption and restoration. Our goal each week is to provide a context for children to interact with the Bible in a way that leads to new knowledge of God and transformation through truth and the power of the Spirit.
Bible memorization – Every 4-6 weeks, your child will work on a new memory verse that connects to what they are studying in Sunday School. Your child will receive a magnet from their classroom teacher to take home and practice. Once your child knows their verse, encourage them to recite it to their teachers. They will then earn a bible memory button.
Catechism – Children will work through catechism each week. The questions and answers are short but rich in theological truth; in fact, we encourage parents to practice and memorize the catechism along with their children. We will work through The New City Catechism as it provides both short and long form versions of each answer which makes it accessible for all ages. We can provide a physical copy of the book for each family. Alternatively, the publishers have designed a great app that we encourage families to download for free. You can find the app by clicking here.
Hymns – Every two months, the children will learn a hymn. We believe children should learn that to know God is to worship Him, and children will benefit from the rich theology expressed in each hymn. We encourage families to sing the hymn together at home. We are currently learning What a friend we have in Jesus and recommend either of the following versions for listening at home:
Bring your Bible! We want to teach our children the importance of the Bible at a young age. So, we want to encourage them to bring their bible to church each week. Show our Sunday morning check in staff your bible, and receive a stamp (in the cover or on your child’s hand). Below is a list of age appropriate story Bibles that each class will utilize for teaching:
2nd and 3rd Grade: The Children’s Illustrated Bible
4th and 5th Grade: NIV Adventure Bible
Great Bible Reading App
Reading the bible is one of the most crucial parts to a God led, Holy Spirit led life. Before we can even ponder making God known, we have to know God ourselves. The bible is the perfect place to know God and his design for our living. The hard part, is finding time to read…much less understand. The Read Scripture app combines well made videos (by the Bible Project) with book by book scripture reading starting in Genesis.
Get the app and start growing in your bible literacy!
Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments I give to you today are to be on your hearts. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the door frame of your houses and your gates.Deuteronomy 6:5-9
