WHAT IS HUME LAKE CHRISTIAN CAMPS?

Hume Lake Christian Camps was established in 1946 with the desire to see each person who attends their camps and retreats to accept Jesus Christ as their personal Savior, grow in their faith, establish Biblical priorities, and devote their lives to serving our Lord both locally and internationally.

Hume Lake strives to meet students where they are at through creative themes, recreation, worship, activities and so much more.

WHY DO WE GO?

We go to Hume to grow closer to God and one another. Each year, Hume camps serve as an opportunity to get away and to invest in the things that matter most. Hume is an incredible environment for us to be together in a meaningful way as a church family alongside other local churches. Although we love our retreats with just our community Hume provides an opportunity to focus on relationships. Hume Lake provides a 10/10 camp experience that we look forward to every year.

WHAT CAMP DOES MY CHILD GO TO?

HUME SOCAL
All incoming 6th-8th graders are invited to attend Hume SoCal with us June 23-June 29, 2024. Hume SoCal is a phenomenal place for middle school (incoming 6th-8th grade) students to get away from the everyday distractions and into the quietness that camp has to offer and learn more about who God is. From outdoor activities, energetic recreation, silly skits and suspenseful night games, to exceptional speakers, inspiring dramas and impactful worship, your time at Hume will make you want to come back for more! The relevant programming and passionate staff will help ensure your time in the mountains will be life-changing.

HUME LAKE’S PONDEROSA (AKA: PONDY)
All incoming 9th-12th graders are invited to attend Hume Lake’s Ponderosa with us July 14th-July 20th, 2024. Ponderosa can seem pretty surreal at first”one thousand campers, epic team competitions, cinematic camp themes, balcony-shaking music, and virtually endless activities, all at 5200 feet elevation in the national forest. But once you settle in you’ll realize that Ponderosa is actually very real”breakout groups with your peers and youth pastor, sunrise worship by lake, and a thousand simple moments where you notice the Gospel at play in your heart and all around you. Ponderosa truly is the best of both worlds where you can escape the regular routines of life while rediscovering all the things that a life in Christ provides.

CABIN REQUESTS

One of the most frequent questions we get is, “Will my child be in a cabin with their friends?” Our answer:  Maybe! We do not take requests; however, we will make sure new students are placed with the friend who brought them and most every student will have someone they know in their cabin.  During the day, students are all together and are free to spend time with whomever they would like. The only time that students are separated in their cabins is for “cabin time” at the end of the night (including sleeping).

On trips, one of our biggest values is for OVERFLOW to grow in unity as a group. This is a unique opportunity for our students to grow deeper in friendship with those in their small groups as well as form new relationships with others outside of their small groups. Every year we see students bond with one another at camp and come home feeling even more comfortable and connected at OVERFLOW!

SAMPLE CAMP SCHEDULE

*We understand that Hume Lake’s schedule includes both late nights and early mornings. We want to maximize the time we spend together while also caring for your child’s health at camp. Your child’s health and well-being is of paramount importance to us, and we will ensure that all campers will be well-fed/drink enough water and have access to all necessary resources should they get sick.

Not every night will include the late night church time so that everyone can get to bed earlier, and there are later mornings for sleeping in as well. We set up the OVERFLOW tent in the main lawn each day as a chill space for students to hang and rest during the day, and they have the opportunity to take naps when needed as well. We tell all campers to tell us immediately if they feel ill/need anything and will ensure that they have all of the care they need.
