As a ministry to the children of Grace, we believe our mission to be twofold – both to the child and to the parents/family. God ordains in his word that parents are to be the primary spiritual influencers in their children’s lives. We understand that this is a daunting and sometimes confusing task. But we were never meant to journey this road alone. We were meant travel in community.
The core of our ministry to children occurs during our Sunday School classes each week. Our curriculum and our Sunday School year are founded upon the truth of God’s story – CREATION, FALL, REDEMPTION and RESTORATION. Through the reading of God’s word, the memorizing of his scripture, and the teaching of sound Christian doctrine we teach our children using simple, yet rich, practices. By learning the scope and sequence of God’s written word, we also learn that God’s story continues in each of our lives.
Our hope is that the children of Grace would grow in their knowledge of who God is and what it means to be a follower of Christ. Our prayer is that the Holy Spirit would use this, along with anything else He wills, to lead them into a relationship with Him.
We are committed to empowering and equipping families so they can disciple and provide biblical leadership for their child at home. Our ministry to parents and families takes many different forms. Parenting seminars focused on pertinent issues to Christian parents, “Parent Panels” that allow you to ask tough questions of those who have already journeyed your path, and concrete milestones to help you guide your child along the road to a saving relationship with Christ are some of the ways we seek to partner with our families. Along with fun family events, we desire to help you connect with our community while learning how to raise your children in a Christ-centered manner. For more personal guidance, we are honored to pray with you, shepherd you and your family, and to facilitate the establishment of a mentor relationship with another couple in our congregation. We are committed to stand beside you, serve you and support you in this most crucial role as your child’s parent and spiritual mentor.
Please contact Sharon Melvin at the email below with any questions or if there is a way that we can serve your family. We are excited and honored to journey with you!

Volunteer with us!
Most certainly, our Children’s Ministry here at Grace runs on the love and devotion of our amazing volunteers.
- We have volunteers that help create fun family events.
- We have volunteers that aid in curriculum development, room aesthetics and maintenance and classroom/ministry prep.
- We have volunteers that help us plan and execute parent outreach activities such as seminars and “Parent Panels”.
- We have volunteers that come mid-week to help us provide loving childcare for our various weekday Bible Studies.
- And, of course, we have our volunteers that serve on our Sunday Morning team – Sunday School Teachers, Sunday School Room Managers, Nurturing Nursery Caretakers, “Remember” Service Leaders, Children’s Church Leaders and our (vitally important) Substitute Teachers.
Yes, it would be impossible to minister to the families of Grace and to our greater community without our network of volunteers. But before you think every role is covered, please know there is a place for you on our team. There are so many needs and so many wonderful ways for you to experience the richness of community by serving alongside us in Children’s Ministry.
I love what Martin Luther King, Jr. had to say about serving each other...
Everybody can be great…because anybody can serve. You don’t have to have a college degree to serve. You don’t have to make your subject and verb agree to serve. You only need a heart full of grace. A soul generated by love.
If you are interested in learning more about all the ways you can partner with us and help raise the next generation, please contact Sharon Melvin at the email listed below. We will get back to you soon and begin the process of helping you find the perfect fit for you to use your unique skills and gifts. We look forward to working with you!
