OVERFLOW Baptism

This fall we are going to have a baptism at Grace, and we want you to consider talking with your students (ages 11 and up) about participating in a baptism class this summer.   Recently, we have had both students and parents ask about baptism, so we want to provide students with an opportunity to be baptized. And, since one of our strong values in OVERFLOW is to encourage the partnership between parents and students, we want to provide you, parents, with an opportunity to lead your students through a baptism class yourselves. So, rather than have you send your students to a class at church, we want to equip you, their parents and primary spiritual mentors, to lead your students through a process.  

We are asking you to consider leading your student through a series of one-on-one conversations this summer that might ultimately lead to them being baptized in the fall. These conversations will give you a great opportunity to talk about the gospel, share your own faith, and hear about your students’ faith. We will provide you with a detailed outline for each of these conversations, so you will have plenty of structure and help in the process. If the dads of your homes are Christians, we would ask that they be the primary person to lead their student through this process. If not, you moms can lead the process or you can choose another spiritual mentor to lead the process. It’s important that the decision to do this come from the students themselves, rather than the parents.
