Winter Retreat "Xtreme Identity"
This year's retreat will be held in Big Bear Lake. We will be staying in 2 huge homes that will fit the entire crew. The girls will be in one house and boys in another; however, we will spend the majority of the time together in the bigger of the two homes so students can all be together for meals, games, and messages. Students will have the option to ski or snowboard both on Saturday as well as on Sunday. The price listed on the website does not include the price of lift tickets or snowboard rentals. If you rent or buy lift tickets through our group you will receive a discount. If students don't want to ski they will have the option to go bowling during the day, stay in the cabin and play games, or go downtown to shop. Students can snowboard or ski one day and stay home the other if desired.
I will be giving the retreats messages and the weekend will be focused around fellowship, spiritual growth, and time on the mountain. This retreat plays such an important role in our group bonding as a Junior High family. Please bring friends as retreats like this always change lives.
If a student in interested in raising money there are three options available. First, families can fill out a scholarship application and turn it into Pastor Chad Merrihew. All scholarship applications are kept confidential. Each year the Jr. Hgih Group sets aside a certain amount of money for scholarships for each event and will distrubute those funds accordingly. Students can receive up to 50% of their trip through a scholarship application. Second, students can earn up to $40 towards their trip by coming to the church any weekday after school and interning for the Jr. High group at $5 an hour. Third, we are starting a coffee fundraiser in January. I have teamed up with Javantinis Espresso Bar in Costa Mesa, where they are making a Jr. High Winter Retreat Coffee B
