05.20.12 - Turning To God (Psalm 3)

We’ve launched a new six-week study here at OVERFLOW that will take us through the book of Psalms. It promises to be a dynamic look at how we can interact with God and how God desires to interact with us.

This first lesson focused on how God is willing and able to heal the hurts caused by relationships that have gone bad. We learned that God is the constant provider who heals our relational aches and pains. We encouraged students to trust in God’s ability to meet their needs when it comes to the pain of broken relationships.

As you go throughout the week, help reinforce this teaching in your life by asking these or similar topics as you have the opportunity:

  • Talk about a time when your teenager went through a rough patch with a friend. See if your child can recall how God worked in that situation to provide strength and comfort.
  • Help your teenager identify some friendships that are solid. Encourage your child to actively strengthen these friendships.
  • Talk to your child about how to avoid the friendships that seem to be potentially harmful, and discuss solutions to minimize the negative effects of these friendships.

To go a bit deeper memorize this weeks "Verse of the Week" and complete the "Call 2 Action":
