04.29.12 - David - An Unlikely Future King (1 Samuel 16:1-13)

OVERFLOW has finished our "Purity Series" and is now continuing in our adventure into the lives of some significant men and women from the Old Testament. We’ve already studied Joshua, Samson, and Ruth. This week, we examined a passage from the life of David. We saw how God led Samuel to choose David to become the next king of Israel, even though David’s older brothers appeared to be more suited for the job. We challenged students to consider how they view themselves and others.

I’d encourage you to continue to apply this important truth. As you have the opportunity this week, spend time discussing the following questions as a family:

  • How can we as a family commit to being better about not making value judgments based on people’s appearances?
  • Genesis tells us that all people are created in God’s image, so when we devalue someone, how might that affect our relationship with God?
  • How can we increase our desire to be people who please God?

Please checkout this weeks "Verse of the Week" and "Call 2 Action" as you continue to grow in your relationship with the Lord.
