Each month we have the opportunity to serve our community by participating in the Second Harvest Gleaning program at the Incredible Edible Park in Irvine.
This ministry consists of gleaning local fields for fruits and vegetables that will be distributed by Second Harvest Food Bank to feed the hungry, including church pantries, shelters, senior centers, rehabilitation centers, homes for abused women and children and many other emergency assistance organizations. Families and children of all ages may participate in this ministry.
This month, the Dexters, McCollums, Millers and Sugdens, who are part of a couples bible study, participated along with their children in the Second Harvest Gleaning. The kids loves the hands on activity and it was a great time of fellowship! Consider organizing a group outreach for your small group or bible study.

This spring, Dave taught a six week sermon series on Outreach. In an effort to continue the conversation and talk through practical, everyday opportunities to reach out to those around you, a group will be meeting immediately after church, once a month, though the summer. The group will thoughtfully look at opportunities for outreach, pray, and encourage each other to reach out. Join in brunch Sundays in the 5th/6th grade Sunday school room July 11th, August 1st and September 5th.
This past Sunday the group considered what relational opportunities God has placed in their lives and encouraged each other to pray about these relationships. And in the coming weeks, take action. Do something. Cross the street and start a conversation with a neighbor. Initiate a spiritual conversation with a coworker. Give someone a thoughtful gift. Go out of your way to help someone out. Do a prayer walk around your neighborhood.
