Harvest Gleaning Outreach

/system/images/0000/0328/gleaning_collage.jpg

Each month we have the opportunity to serve our community by participating in the Second Harvest Gleaning program at the Incredible Edible Park in Irvine.

This ministry consists of gleaning local fields for fruits and vegetables that will be distributed by Second Harvest Food Bank to feed the hungry, including church pantries, shelters, senior centers, rehabilitation centers, homes for abused women and children and many other emergency assistance organizations. Families and children of all ages may participate in this ministry.

This month, the Dexters, McCollums, Millers and Sugdens, who are part of a couples bible study, participated along with their children in the Second Harvest Gleaning. The kids loves the hands on activity and it was a great time of fellowship! Consider organizing a group outreach for your small group or bible study.

The Gospel of Ruth: Steadfast Love in Action

Dave is currently working through a 5 week sermon series on the book of Ruth (starting June 6th).  He will be looking at the idea of steadfast love...in action. The Hebrew word 'hesed' is used several times in the book and translates loyal love, selfless love, loving kindness, and mercy. This love and commitment defies normal expectations. Hesed is not a love you think or feel. It's something you do. This is a story of love, commitment and sacrifice illustrated by the lives of Ruth, Boaz and Naomi.  But ultimately, it is a story of God's hesed.  God's love for his people. And ordinary lives intersecting with God's larger plans.  Please join us for this adventure.
